Labeling Finished, Reallocation Complete

JC Decaux has finished labeling the multiracks, so you should have commenced stocking them by now (everyone was emailed more than a week ago). If you encounter problems, let me know. I’m sure some issues will arise, and we’ll try to do a review of everything down the road a bit.

Reallocation finished, pending labeling

All of the open slots have been reallocated, and the new assignments are shown here in green. However, we will not be able to start servicing these new locations till they have been labeled by JC Decaux.

I am dropping off the schematic diagrams to JC Decaux this afternoon, and will update this site when I have definitive timing on this final step.

The wait list has been updated as of this final round of reallocations.

Reallocation Update

I am working on Adams, Madison and Monroe today. The following publications, from the waitlist, are not being included in this process either because they did not want additional slots right now, or because they failed to respond to multiple requests. If they respond in time, they are still eligible to participate in Michigan-Chicago-Rush reallocations later this week:

Final Reallocations in Process

This email was sent all wait-listed publications last week:

Hello,

With the weather turning favorable, and a new mayor in the wings, we need to fast-track the remaining reallocation of Multiracks.

By next Wednesday, April 27, please send me the following:

1. Your top six choices for the remaining Loop streets, or let me know if a) you’ll take any available or b) you want to just hold onto your current wait-list position slots and skip those streets.

Adams Street/Madison Street/Monroe Street

Please note that these were due September 30, 2010 and if you sent me your choices on time, I have them on file.

By next Saturday, April 30, please send me the following:

1. Your top six choices for the Gold Coast streets, or let me know if a) you’ll take any available or b) you want to just hold onto your current wait-list position slots and skip those streets

Chicago Avenue/Michigan Avenue/Rush Street

You can review existing allocations, as well as slots likely to open up, here: http://chicagonews.wordpress.com/multirack-allocations-current/

Washington-Randolph Multiracks Ready

JC Decaux has completed the relabeling of the newly allocated multirack locations on Washington and Randolph. Please add them to your lists and start stocking them weekly.

If you have not done so, please send your top six choices for Madison/Adams/Monroe by September 30.

Reallocations Phase 1 Completed

The reallocations for Washington and Randolph have been completed and are reflected on those pages on this site. New slots are indicated by the color green.

We are awaiting details from JCD on when they will get these multiracks relabeled and will pass along that information as soon as we get it.

The wait list has been updated after the Phase 1 process.

Next up Madison/Monroe/Adams. Send me your top 6 choices, or let me know if you’d prefer  I just assign you to relevant open slots, as many did in the first round.

Update on the Reallocation–Publications at risk of missing out

Hello. Many of you have been contacting me for status updates. Many of you have not responded to the call for slot preferences, which has held us up, but we’re going to proceed next week either way. Here is the email that went out today to the unresponsive publications:

The following publications have not responded to this deadline as outlined below. If I do not hear from you by Monday, July  26, 5pm, we will proceed without you. You will retain your slot on the wait list, but will not be awarded any of the pending locations on Randolph and Washington. Thanks.

CDOT Bulletin: Chaining boxes; location lists

To All:
We are still have 2 major problems we need to resolve ASAP:

1) Per ordinance 10-28-765 a     Each news rack shall be sufficiently weighted to provide stability and safety. News racks shall be maintained in orderly rows. Within the central business district, no news rack shall be chained, tied or otherwise fastened to a tree, signpost, streetlight, telephone pole or other fixture on the public way.

2)Per ordinance 10-28-765 d   Not later than June 1 of each year, every distributor shall submit to the commissioner a list, in a form specified by the commissioner, of the locations of all of the distributor’s news racks that were situated on the public way as of May 1 of that year.

Please have all of your boxes unchained from all structures, and please submit all lists to me.

Thank you.
